Small groups of up to 3 students are $30 per 60-minute session, and 1:1 tutoring is $50. Sessions run on weekday afternoons and Saturdays (Pacific Time), for families in Walnut, Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights and anywhere online. It all starts with a free 15-minute parent call.

What happens on the free call?
Fifteen minutes on Zoom. We talk through grades, upcoming tests, and where math got hard, then recommend group or 1:1 tutoring. You won’t be asked for payment details.
What is ROH Tutoring?
ROH Tutoring is live online math tutoring on Zoom for grades K-12 through AP Calculus, taught by Ran Bian, a former Mathnasium instructor. Every plan starts by finding exactly where a student’s understanding broke down, then rebuilds from there.
How much does online math tutoring cost?
$30 per 60-minute session in a small group of up to 3 students, or $50 per session for 1:1. The 15-minute parent call is free. Each block of sessions is invoiced once, with no recurring billing, and buying more sessions at once earns free bonus sessions.
Is online math tutoring effective?
It can be, when sessions are live and interactive. Your student works through problems with the tutor in real time on a shared whiteboard, so mistakes are caught and fixed on the spot. No driving also makes a steady weekly schedule easier to keep.
Do you serve Walnut, Diamond Bar and Rowland Heights?
Yes. ROH Tutoring is based in Walnut, and every session is live on Zoom, so families in Walnut, Diamond Bar, Rowland Heights and nearby cities can book, as can families anywhere else. There are no in-person sessions. Families nearby can read more on our Walnut math tutoring page.
Who is this for?
Any K-12 student who wants steadier math grades, more confidence in class, or focused help preparing for a specific test, whether they’re behind, on track, or aiming higher.
My child understands the homework but does badly on tests. Is that normal?
Very common. Homework allows time and notes that tests don’t, so a student can get a problem at home but freeze under test conditions. Sessions build understanding that holds up without notes, which is what closes this gap. Our article on why this happens and what helps has more detail.
How much time will this take each week?
Most students do 1-2 sessions a week (60 minutes each), depending on the plan. Consistency is what lets your tutor give accurate, targeted support.
What if my child is shy or had a bad tutoring experience?
Sessions have at most 3 students and are paced around your child, and the tutor doesn’t move on until something makes sense.
Do we need special software or equipment?
Just Zoom (free), a device with a camera, and a stable internet connection. Your tutor will walk you through everything on your first call. Any additional software or equipment ROH uses will be communicated to parents beforehand.
Is it safe? How do online sessions work?
Yes. Every session runs on ROH Tutoring’s own Zoom account with the waiting room on, so only expected students are let in. Parents are always welcome to join or sit in, and sessions are never recorded without your consent. During group work, your student can tap Zoom’s “Ask for Help” button and Ran will join them.
Can sessions focus on a specific upcoming test?
Yes. Tell us the test, and we’ll build sessions around what’s being covered and the strategies that help most for that exam.
What grades and subjects do you cover?
Math for every grade, K through 12: early arithmetic, pre-algebra, algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, and AP Calculus. We also cover Common Core curriculum.
Can we change or cancel our plan?
Yes. Plans are billed in session blocks with no long-term contract, so you can change your session frequency or pause any time. You can also cancel anytime, and any unused paid sessions are refunded.
How is this different from a tutoring center or app?
Apps and video courses can’t see where your child is stuck. At ROH Tutoring, a live tutor teaches every session and plans it around your child’s specific gaps.
